ALBA METHOD ASSOCIATION

Nancy B. Loitz received her MFA in Directing from the University of Minnesota. In 1986 Nancy joined the faculty of Illinois Wesleyan University as the Coordinator of the Music Theatre program. Nancy was appointed Director of the School of Theatre Arts in 1999 and served in this capacity for seven years before taking a leave of absence to assume a term as the Associate Dean of the College at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She returned to IWU in 2009 where she continues to teach courses in acting, directing and script analysis. Professor Loitz began her study of the Alba method in 1993 at the first international Alba Emoting training with Susana Bloch. She continued intensive study with Bloch, eventually co-teaching with her. She was certified to independently teach the technique in 1997. She has taught the method in an academic setting at IWU, Augustana College, the University of Asheville and the Amsterdam Academy of Theatre and Dance. She has also trained professionals from a wide range of disciplines (including performing arts, law, business and nursing) through intensive seminars throughout the United States and in Canada, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands.
